Mechanical Repairs Topped Paid Claims in 2009

Last year, 72% of the claims paid by AHW involved repairs and replacements of a mechanical nature.  Repairs involving structural problems resulted in 28% of payments.

Most mechanical claims were for HVAC systems (29%), followed by repairs for plumbing (26%), appliances (17%), water heaters (14%), electric (7%) and gas (3%).

Topping the list for structural components were roof repairs (71.5%), followed by foundations (12%), garage doors (9%), and miscellaneous structural issues (7.5%).
